In addition, the Maasai Mara forms a major part of the Great Wildebeest Migration ecosystem, where large herds of wildebeest and zebras migrate for new grazing land. This 3 Days Kenya Masai Mara Safari is a comprehensive trip that will start and end in Nairobi, Kenya.
Your adventure starts with a comfortable drive to the Maasai Mara, followed by an afternoon game drive. On the second day, you will spend all day on game drives with an optional visit to a Maasai village. Detailed 3 Days Maasai Mara Safari
Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara National Reserve – Afternoon Game Drive
Main Activities: Road transfer, countryside tour and afternoon game drive
Destination: Maasai Mara National Reserve
Lunch and Dinner: Depending on your time of arrival
Our trip to Maasai Mara will begin with a pick-up at your Nairobi hotel or another mutually agreed point by our professional Kenya safari guide from Chopper Tour and Travel for a short briefing, and then we’ll head towards one of the most popular wildlife areas in Kenya.
Drive through the Kenyan countryside, passing by rural villages, varying terrain and parts of the Great Rift Valley route depending on the road selected. If there is enough time, a short break during the drive might be organized.
Continue towards Maasai Mara, where the landscape gradually opens into rolling grasslands and a wide savannah plain. On arrival, proceed to your lodge or tented camp, where you can check in and enjoy lunch if time permits.
If you get enough time, then go for an afternoon game drive in the reserve as your first activity here. Under the guidance of your guide, move along the suitable tracks in the park and try finding elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, and antelopes.
In addition, you might be lucky to observe predators like lions, cheetahs, or hyenas. Using the expertise of your guide and recent information about the animals in the park, he will be able to point out the possible areas, but this depends on their movement and conditions.
After the game drive, return to your accommodation for dinner and a relaxing evening.
Day 2: Full-day Game Drive – Big Five and Wildlife Safari
Destination: Maasai Mara National Reserve
Activities: Morning and afternoon game drives, wildlife observation and photographing
Wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast before embarking on a long day of wildlife adventure in the Reserve. This is the main day for your safari, where you will have much more time for exploring varied habitats as well as observing animals that are popular in the Mara.
Your guide will design your route for the day depending on the weather conditions and sightings. The open grasslands of the reserve give you a chance to observe big herbivores feeding and moving around the area. Meanwhile, the riverine vegetation presents another unique habitat for both animals and birdlife.
Keep watch for elephants moving in family herds, giraffes feeding from the treetops, zebras and wildebeest migrating across the grasslands and buffaloes gathering in herds. There is a chance that you will meet lions that have been hunting overnight, cheetahs observing their habitat or hyenas patrolling their areas. Leopards are rare to spot, which means you will have to look hard.
Having a picnic lunch gives you an opportunity to spend more time in the park and not return back to your lodge in the middle of the day. Your guide will organise an adequate spot for the lunch according to the rules of the reserve and the route planned.
After lunch, you will continue your safari and explore other suitable areas of the reserve. In addition to the search for the animals, you will have an opportunity to explore the landscapes of Mara and observe the interaction of its wildlife.
If your journey is within the time period of the Great Wildebeest Migration, your guide will be able to target the right areas where there are migrating herds. The timing of the migration as well as the location keeps changing, and river crossings remain unpredictable and therefore cannot be guaranteed.
In the evening, return to your hotel for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Day 3: Optional Hot Air Balloon Safari or Early Morning Game Drive – Return to Nairobi, Shopping and Departure
Activities: optional hot air balloon trip, morning game drive, road transfer back to Nairobi, shopping if time permits
Destination: Maasai Mara to Nairobi
Meal: Breakfast; lunch depending on the time of departure
Start your last day with an optional hot air balloon safari experience to view the beauty of the wide savannah and its creatures from above or an early morning game drive with your guide, looking for wildlife that starts the activities for the day.

After your breakfast in your lodge or tented camp, check out and start your journey back to Nairobi, taking in the picturesque scenery during the trip with refreshment breaks when necessary.
On your arrival in Nairobi, you may have time for shopping according to your arrival and flight times before you are taken to the airport or another specified destination by your driver guide.
